Hyundai has opened a dedicated UK pre-delivery inspection centre at Southampton Docks to speed up deliveries.

Run by parent company HD Construction Equipment, the site receives fully assembled machines direct from the factory, avoiding the previous routing through Hyundai’s Antwerp facility for standard UK-bound units.

Machines built to stock or existing dealer orders will go through Southampton, while excavators and wheel loaders needing customer-specific boom or arm configurations will still be completed at Antwerp.

Operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen, the centre washes incoming machines, checks for transport damage and is already planning a larger wash bay to support Hyundai’s expanding range.

Each machine is inspected by a single technician, documented with detailed photography and repaired on site where needed, including paint, corrosion and decal work.

A six-bay workshop and enhanced lighting allow the site to inspect, rectify and record issues across Hyundai’s full equipment range.

Hyundai says the process is fully digital, with photographic records kept throughout inspection and onward transport.

Machines are then shipped to supplying dealers for final branding, attachments and customer-specific preparation.

Hyundai said dealers will continue to handle handover, final checks and aftersales support, while the new centre reduces dealer workload and speeds delivery.
